Day 2 - July 1, 2013

We have had a tough day.

We are anchored now (7:39pm) at Pedder Bay near Race rocks. 37 Knot gale force winds and dense fog were around the bend. We will try again when the current changes at midnight as long as the wind settles, and the fog lifts.

Scary waves today. I was sick as a dog vomiting for an hour, and Brian too.
Juan de Fuca straight is a wind tunnel, just billowing and filling up the straight with 8-10 foot waves! Feels good to stop.

We had to repair the windless for the anchor this morning, and pull the anchor up by hand. This is the first time I have ever had to do that. Rick took it all apart and got it fixed, he can fix anything! We emptied the holding tank of waste by hand. The holding tank had been opened for ten days and was full.
One by one we are sorting out the challenges.

These are our first challenges to get out to Sea.

The winds are howling, even where we are anchored. We are in a small inlet, and we can see a prison compound on shore with razor wire that Garrett identified.
